Hometown:
Maple Hill, Iowa (population 42)
Alma Mater: Minnesota State University - Mankato
E-mail: j.sangl@tcu.edu
Year I joined the Office of Admission: 2005
Areas I recruit: I am TCU's Upper Midwest Regional Representative and serve students in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. I work out of an office in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, but fly back to campus every 4-6 weeks.
I think TCU is a great university because: students are treated as individuals. Each acceptance letter is hand-signed (in purple ink) by TCU's Dean of Admission. TCU also recognizes the importance of transitions--first-year students connect with faculty, staff and returning students during our nationally recognized Frog Camp sessions.
Hobbies and interests: Having been raised in a very small town in Iowa, I enjoy learning about other cultures. We have served as a host family for students from Japan, Germany, Croatia, and Poland. I enjoy baking cookies. I love how the aroma of fresh-baked cookies can put a smile on anyone's face. This is especially true for my six-year-old twin sons who affectionately refer to me as “The Cookie MOM-ster”.
Favorite class in college: Intrapersonal Communication (communicating with one's self) was an especially interesting course.
My advice to you: Find the right fit for YOU. While input from friends and family is great, focus on what type of college environment is best for you. Don't follow the crowd; instead, recognize and celebrate what your needs are. |
