Audition Examinations in Ballet and Modern Dance

Audition Examinations in Ballet and Modern Dance Entering students majoring in dance are frequently qualified by the quality, intensity and level of pre-college and/or professional instruction and experience to enter the dance program at the sophomore or junior level in technique and/or repertory courses.

Those dance majors with prior training comparable to TCU studio courses may apply for an audition to receive advanced placement credit. Those students wishing advanced standing in repertory must demonstrate through a placement class and/or a portfolio or other means of documentation that they have done professional training and performance comparable to the course content offered at TCU. Courses for which credit may be permitted are:

In technique courses:
Ballet 10103, 10113, 20103, 20113 3-12 sem. hrs.
Modern 10203, 10213, 20203, 20213 3-12 sem. hrs.

In repertory and performance courses:
Ballet 10322, Modern 10442 2-4 sem. hrs.
Ballet 30162, 30182, 40192 2-6 sem. hrs.
Modern 30242, 30262, 40272 2-6 sem. hrs.

Upon recommendation of the Department of Ballet and Modern Dance, credit may be granted for the above courses: the fee is $10 per semester hour.
