College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
The College-Level Examination Program for the College Board of Educational Testing Services provides examinations to measure achievement in specific college-level courses. TCU is a national test center administering exams on the second and third Mondays of every month. For more information or to register to take a CLEP test, contact the TCU Counseling and Testing Center, 817.257.7863.
- Currently enrolled TCU students should obtain prior approval from their academic dean before taking CLEP examinations.
- CLEP results from another national test center may be sent to TCU. Our code number is 6820.
- The current cost of each examination at TCU is $65 ($50 payable to CLEP and $15 payable to TCU). If a score of 55 or higher is earned on the multiple choice section of the Freshman College Composition exam, the essay portion of the exam will be read by TCU's Composition Committee. With the approval of the committee, credit will be granted.
- TCU grants credit for the examinations listed in the chart on the back of this handout.
