Words have the power to persuade, entertain, and generate ideas. Writing majors learn how and why people communicate through various types of writing. Through practicing language use and creative expression, writing majors better understand their own ideas and become critically conscious of writing in a digital age, on a global stage.
- Practice the craft of writing by taking classes in creative genres (poetry, fiction, essay) and submitting your work to eleven40seven and the annual Creative Writing Awards.
- Learn about the publishing industry and study the role of writing in public policy, political rhetoric, and various professions.
- Apply your skills through the New Media Writing Studio or the Writing Associates Program.
- Work for publishers, museums, non-profit organizations, and campus offices to gain experience and semester credit through our Writing Internship program.
- Combine a bachelor’s degree in Writing with a master’s degree in business or education through TCU’s 3/2 programs.
