Social Work
Social workers help individuals, families, groups and communities solve problems and improve lives. As a social work student, you will learn to assess problems, provide support, interview, and locate and use resources, preparing you for work in hundreds of different settings and with any age group.
  • Get into real life scenarios your senior year when you complete an internship at a local human service agency under the guidance of professional social workers.
  • Earn advanced standing in graduate school and receive your master's degree in about one year instead of two
  • Be a social worker at a time when U.S. News and World Report says this field is among the top 20 in the nation
  • Join a program that has a 95% + passing rate on the Texas State Social Work Licensing exam

If you are a transfer student or just declare social work a little later than some others, we also have a plan to help you complete all of your coursework in 2 years.
 
Graduates may begin their careers as: medical social workers, school social workers, case managers in social service agencies, administrators and managers, community organizers, or in social policy and research. About 50 percent of recent graduates enter graduate school immediately, and other 25 to 35 percent begin graduate study within five years.
