Psychosocial Kinesiology
As a psychosocial kinesiology major, you’ll learn how psychological and social factors affect sport performance and physical activity. You’ll develop an understanding of topics like confidence, anxiety, leadership, goal setting, eating disorders, and burnout as you prepare for a career in athletics or other movement-based settings.
  • Enter the minds of athletes and active individuals as you gain a better understanding of the mental aspects of sport performance and physical activity.
  • Complete a senior internship with a professional, university or high school athletic team or in clinical exercise or fitness settings.
  • Work in small-group settings during courses in kinesiology and psychology.
  • Prepare for graduate study to become a counselor or sport psychologist.

Psychosocial kinesiology graduates are prepared for graduate study in counseling, sport psychology, exercise psychology, sport sociology or sport management. Others may become athletic academic advisors or coaches at the university level or in K-12 schools (after earning teacher certification).
